Introduction:
Today, we're going to talk about something that might sound a bit funny at first: "Fix Your Face." But no, we’re not talking about makeup or anything like that. We’re diving into how our expressions and attitudes reflect what's going on inside our hearts and how that impacts our walk with Jesus and our influence on others.
Main Points:
1. The Mirror of Your Heart:
- Scripture: Proverbs 15:13 (CSB): "A joyful heart makes a face cheerful, but a sad heart produces a broken spirit."
- Your face often shows what’s going on in your heart. If you're filled with joy, peace, and love from Jesus, it shows up as smiles, kind looks, and gentle words. But when we're struggling, it’s like our faces become billboards advertising our troubles.
- Think about how you feel when you see someone smiling at you—it lifts you up, right? Our expressions can be a simple but powerful way to bless others, showing the joy that comes from knowing Jesus.
2. Facing the World:
- Scripture: Matthew 5:16 (CSB): "In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."
- How we present ourselves to the world, including our facial expressions, can either draw people to Jesus or push them away. When we "fix our faces," not just physically but also spiritually and emotionally, we shine His light.
- Challenge: This week, try to be more aware of how your face and attitude reflect your heart in different situations—at home, work, or school. Ask God to help you show His love and joy, even when it’s tough.
3. The Transformation:
- Scripture: 2 Corinthians 3:18 (CSB): "We all, with unveiled faces, are looking as in a mirror at the glory of the Lord and are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory; this is from the Lord who is the Spirit."
- Being a follower of Jesus means we’re always changing, growing more like Him. This transformation should show on our faces as we become more filled with His love and grace.
- Our faces shouldn't just reflect our circumstances but the eternal joy and peace we have in Jesus. It’s about letting the Holy Spirit renew our hearts every day, which in turn, transforms our expressions.
Conclusion:
"Fix Your Face" isn’t just about smiling all the time—it’s about letting the truth of Jesus’ love and your faith in Him be so strong in your heart that it can't help but show on your face. Let’s ask God to help us reflect His love and joy so clearly that when people see us, they see a glimpse of Him. Let's pray for our hearts to be so aligned with Jesus that our faces naturally show His peace and joy to everyone we meet.
Let’s pray together to close. [Lead a prayer focusing on asking God for inward joy that reflects outwardly, transforming our interactions and testimonies.]
